France looks good at the Para-swimming Worlds

At the Virtus World Para-swimming Championships held in Saint-Victor (Allier), France performed well as host. The Blues reach the 2^e place of the medal table.

From Monday 13 to Friday 17 December, the aqualudic center of La Loue, in Saint-Victor (Allier) was the center of the world of para-swimming. The privileged setting for the organization of the 2021 Virtus World Para-swimming Championships, a competition dedicated to athletes with mental or psychological disorders. Nearly 60 swimmers from nine countries, mainly European (Belgium, Russia, Czech Republic) were in the pools.

France at the top of the bill

At home, the France team finished these Worlds in a satisfactory second place in the medal table with 68 charms. Far ahead of Turkey, 3^e with 22 medals, the Blues finished behind the untouchable Spaniards (87 medals). “Everything went very well. «  present with La Montagne Esther Nommé, coordinator for the French Adapted Sport Federation (FFSA). “We had records for France, Europe and the World. For the French delegation, it is a general satisfaction. For almost all of our swimmers, it was the first competition in two years, so there were emotions to deal with, landmarks to find. « 

Medals and titles

In total, the French team won 31 gold medals, 27 silver and 10 bronze. One of the stars of these Auvergne world championships is undoubtedly Axel Parisot. Le Poitevin (category II3, autistic without intellectual disabilities) won no less than nine titles in as many races contested. Cléo Renou won gold in the 200-meter medley in II2 (intellectual disability with associated disorder with trisomy 21), the world record. Many positive signals, both in the results and in the organization, in this kind of great rehearsal before the Global Games of 2023 which will be held in Vichy, still in the Allier.
