The 2022 edition of the Goodwood Revival, which will be held across the Channel at the Goodwood Motor Circuit from September 16 to 8, will have the privilege of welcoming four drivers who have marked the history of motorsport in the United States and of the series IndyCar in particular.
In addition to the usual animators present in the different categories on the program of the Goodwood Revival, the 2022 edition of the British event will indeed bring together Helio Castroneves, Scott Dixon, Dario Franchitti and Jimmie Johnson on the track. The information was confirmed by the organizers of the British event, a few days before the 106th edition of the Indianapolis 500 Miles.
Helio Castroneves precisely, is quite simply alongside AJ Foyt, Rick Mears and AI Unser, the record holder for victories in the Indianapolis 500 Miles with four successes to his credit (won in 2001, 2002, 2009 and 2021). A record which was not very far from Dario Franchitti, now retired from the circuits (now a development driver for Gordon Murray Automotive), who for his part won four IndyCar championships (in 2007, 2009, 2010 and 2011) and made his name three times on the Indy 500 list.
New Zealander Scott Dixon has never won the Indy 500, but his record shows six driver titles acquired in the IndyCar series, almost as many as Jimmie Johnson in NASCAR. The American, whose career in NASCAR allowed him to win seven titles between 2006 and 2016 (he thus became the equal of legends Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt), has been involved in Indycar since 2020, and he will take part in his first Indianapolis 500 this May 29.
The four men will race at Goodwood next September, as part of the St Mary’s Trophy as well as in the Royal Automobile Club TT event organized on Sunday afternoon.
