As for the manufacturer, member of the Stellantis group (Peugeot, Chrysler, Fiat …), we believe that it is a return to the roots of the brand created in 1914 and which took its first steps in competition in 1926, at the Targa Florio. Two victories in the 500 miles of Indianapolis (1939 and 1940) and above all a title in Formula 1 with Juan Manuel Fangio (his 5th and last in 1957) will establish the legend of the « Trident » which has also regularly distinguished itself in GT.

To mark the occasion, Alejandro Agag, founder and boss of the Formula E Championship, was present in Modena. “Having such a brand joining us in FE is an incredible moment for the Championship. «  And a breath of fresh air after the recent withdrawals of Audi and BMW (end of 2021) and that announced of Mercedes at the end of 2022.

A return to Formula 1 evoked
Maserati now has one year to prepare for its entry into the running, with one advantage: the possibility of benefiting, to a certain extent, from the experience of the DS-Techeetah team (DS also part of the Stellantis group). Jean-Marc Finot, boss of Stellantis Motorsport, detailed the first outlines of this cohabitation. “We work transversally at Stellantis, it’s a way of being efficient, to develop in competition but also production cars. We will use DS technologies for Maserati, as we did from DS to Peugeot’s hybrid car in WEC (endurance where Peugeot will be involved from this year). There is still a lot to define but what makes the performance in Formula E, the software (which manages the use of energy), will be different. There will be two different teams that will compete. «

We’re not ruling out Formula 1, but now is not the time or the place to talk about it. We are friends with Stefano (Domenicali, boss of Formula 1), but today is Alejandro’s day (Agag) and Maserati.  » Who hopes to fight for victories in his first season.
