Formula 1: Williams formalizes the name of its second driver!

It’s official and in the end, Mercedes will not have imposed its own choices on Williams Racing. As a way of asserting its independence, the Grove team has therefore hired a Red Bull Racing driver. With what that can entail as leaks, from Mercedes to Honda. Indeed, Alex Albon has just been confirmed by the English team, an agreement covering a full season, for the moment.

Williams offers himself a rather experienced pilot

In addition, the boss of Williams wanted to clarify things with regard to the former employer of Albon. Because according to him, it is now the English formation which has a contract with Alex, without Red Bull being able to weigh in one way or another where to impose anything. Clearly, the Grove team does not intend to play luxury filler in Formula 1.

“I’m really excited to return to F1 as a starter in 2022. When you spend a year away from F1 you are never sure to come back, so I really want to thank Red Bull and Williams for believing in me and helping me get back on the grid. It was also great to see all the progress that Williams has made this year, and I can’t wait to help them continue this adventure in 2022. ” Alex Albon

The two drivers bring an excellent mix of youth and experience, which will be perfect to integrate into the team but also to help us reach a new milestone. Alex is one of the most exciting young talents and nevertheless arrived with a lot of F1 experience thanks to his stint at Red Bull. His podiums highlight his speed and we know he will immediately feel at home with the team at Grove. In addition, Nicholas has impressed us regularly over the past three years, with his hard work and positive attitude. He continued to grow at Williams and matured into an impressive F1 driver, as his points scored this season show. ” said Jost Capito.
