Williams F1: Only Albon will have (...)

Like most of the teams on the grid, Williams F1 will compete in a home Grand Prix this weekend at Silverstone.

It will even be almost a double Grand Prix at home for Alexander Albon, the Thai also having British origins. Moreover, the former Red Bull driver has special memories of the English track.

“Silverstone is a home race for the team and half for me too! It’s a special circuit especially with all the fans coming out to show their support. Silverstone is also where I got my first karting license at the age of 8, so that’s really where it all started for me. It’s probably one of the most enjoyable circuits for a driver and I think it will be a lot of fun in these cars. »

Nicholas Latifi ensures that Silverstone is one of his favorite circuits: is he then aiming to perform more than usual in order to maximize his chances of staying in F1 next year?

“I am very happy to go to Silverstone. It’s the team’s home race, so it’s going to be a special weekend in that regard. Silverstone is an incredible circuit, especially with the huge fan turnout and the atmosphere they create. It’s still one of my favorite circuits on the F1 calendar, with its very grippy tarmac, high speed and flowing sequence of corners. I can’t wait to hit the track and hope we have a good weekend. »

Dave Robson, director of performance, announces the arrival of developments for Williams, which only Alexander Albon will be able to test. The engineer doesn’t say what Grove’s hopes are with this aerodynamic package.

“The British Grand Prix is one of the highlights of the Formula 1 calendar, as well as being a traditional moment in the British summer of sport. The Silverstone circuit has hardly changed since last year and still presents a huge challenge for cars, tires and drivers. The circuit is characterized by its high-speed turns and short straights; and the exposed Silverstone site means the wind can have a dramatic and often unpredictable effect on cars. »

“We have updated the aerodynamic package for this weekend, which will only run on Alex’s car to check its behavior and confirm that it works as expected. The flat body and bottom form the basis of the update we are bringing. Our evolution is intended to effectively increase the downforce of the car. »

“We’re looking forward to our home race and understanding the new parts; they are likely to modify the balance and the behavior of the car and it is important that we can use them. »
