Alex Albon set the 16th fastest time in the second free practice session of the French Grand Prix and was very satisfied with his day: his feelings at the wheel of the FW44 are good and he expects to do better tomorrow.
« It was a good day for us and the feeling in the car is very good at this circuit, so I’m positive. Hopefully we can use that to be even better tomorrow. Overall , I am very satisfied with this day. »
As is often the case at Williams F1 this season, Nicholas Latifi was again well behind and finished last in the session. And if the Canadian is satisfied to have in turn the evolutions, he wants to understand what did not work for him today.
« Overall it was a tough day from Free 1. I couldn’t find a good feeling with the car and that’s something we’ll have to look at to see if there’s anything wrong. don’t think it was due to evolutions, so we have to see. »
« It’s a good thing that we were able to collect good data and that our two cars are now equipped with the aerodynamic evolutions, it means twice as much data for the team. We will see what we can do tonight and then tomorrow. . »
The day will still have been positive for Williams who turned well on the Paul Ricard, which is welcomed by the performance manager Dave Robson.
“The day went well and we were able to do some testing without any problems. We improved the car constantly during the day but there will be more to come tomorrow, especially from Nicholas’ side.
« It was of course very hot today, and it will continue for the rest of the weekend, but the track was in good condition and the tires felt well. We have some work to do between now and Sunday to understand how best approach the Grand Prix in terms of tire degradation and strategy, but we got off to a good start today and we have a solid platform to build on. »
