Sebastian Vettel would rather race in Bathurst, otherwise known as the famous and challenging Mount Panorama circuit in Australia, than in Las Vegas.
Formula 1 owner Liberty Media has paid $240 million for land in Las Vegas that will house the F1 paddock for the Grand Prix to be held on the legendary « Strip » from 2023.
« They are trying to grow their business, our business, and the fact that they are investing to build Formula 1 – you can only applaud them for that, » said McLaren CEO Zak Brown.
The quadruple world champion, however, is less impressed.
« To be honest, I went to Vegas, » comments the German.
« I didn’t really like it. I think it’s too dense and most people misbehave. »
« I would rather go to Bathurst – take the money we put in Vegas and invest it in great tracks that already exist and bring them up to F1 standards. »
« Bathurst in an F1, it would be a real challenge. I think this circuit is a monster. I’ve never been there but, one day, I hope to go there and experience it with a good car, » concludes the Aston Martin F1 driver.
