Formula 1 | Vettel and Schumacher team up for the Race of Champions 2022
Sebastian Vettel and Mick Schumacher will represent the German team at the next edition of the Race of Champions.
The Aston Martin driver and Haas driver are the latest drivers to register for the event, which returns in a new ice and snow format to Sweden in February after a two-year absence.
Vettel and Schumacher previously teamed up for Germany at the 2019 edition of the event in Mexico, finishing second overall.
Vettel won the Nations Cup six consecutive times from 2007 to 2012 when he was associated with Mick’s father, Michael, in the competition.
This means that three active Formula 1 drivers will take part in the event after Valtteri Bottas, who will be transferred to Alfa Romeo, signs up to represent the Finnish squad.
« I am really looking forward to participating in the Race of Champions again and representing Germany with Mick, » says Vettel.
« The competition will be very strong, especially from the Nordic riders who have a lot more experience than us on snow and ice. »
« We have to build on the success of the German team and fight for the win, and I’m sure we will both take this very seriously! » Schumacher continues.
« The other teams, especially the Nordics, may have more experience driving on ice, but we will try to compensate for that with our motivation and resilience as the days of the event unfold. »
« Either way, I’m really looking forward to meeting all the other riders and having a good time with them during Race of Champions weekend. »
