The qualifications
Mercedes locked the front row for the 4th time this year (80th in history for the team), the first time since Mexico as well.
It is the 5th pole « only » for Lewis Hamilton in 2021, his 103rd in his career; and it is also the first time that he has signed two poles in a row in 2021.

4th in qualifying: Charles Leclerc had not done better since Turkey.

The race
This is Lewis Hamilton’s 103rd F1 victory, and his third in a row (his first time this year).
Lewis Hamilton has won on a 31st different career circuit. The only five circuits on which he has failed to win after competing in a Grand Prix there are Magny-Cours, Valence, India, Korea and Zandvoort.
He’s never won a championship by not leading it so late in the season.
For the first time since 1974, the first two in the championship approach the last Grand Prix with perfect equality on points (Fittipaldi had won over Regazzoni).
17 podiums in one season: Max Verstappen equaled the number of podiums in a single year. He is tied with Michael Schumacher (2002), Sebastian Vettel (2011) and Hamilton (2015, 2016, 2018, 2019) in this area. But Michael Schumacher had made 100% of the podiums in 2002.
For his 100th start with Mercedes, Valtteri Bottas narrowly finished on the podium. As in Baku 2017, he nabbed a place at the finish. In Baku, he passed Lance Stroll on arrival for 2nd place, this time it was Ocon for 3rd place.
This is the second top 5 in a row for Esteban Ocon. And the 8th top 6 of the year in the race for Pierre Gasly.
For the 4th race in a row, the two Ferraris finished in line in the race, Charles Leclerc 7th and Carlos Sainz 8th here.
Carlos Sainz has extended his consecutive F1 GP points streak to 14 races. The Spaniard now has the most points in F1 history without a win, with 521.5 points, overtaking Nico Hulkenberg.
For his penultimate race in F1, Antonio Giovinazzi posted his best result of the year.
