Formula 1 | Ricciardo will become the most capped Australian in F1
On the occasion of the Spanish Grand Prix, Daniel Ricciardo will become the driver to have competed in the most Grands Prix in Formula 1. The McLaren F1 driver equaled Mark Webber’s total in Miami, which he will exceed this weekend in Barcelona.
Ricciardo has started 215 F1 Grands Prix since his arrival at the 2011 British GP with the modest HRT team. Since then he has driven for Toro Rosso, Red Bull, Renault F1 and McLaren.
His 216th Grand Prix will make him the Australian driver who has participated in the most races in the premier category of motorsport. Webber played his 215th in Brazil in 2013.
In the rest of this ranking, we find two world champions. Jack Brabham is third with 123 starts, ahead of Alan Jones, who has taken part in 116 Grands Prix.
Ricciardo was made a Member of the Order in Australia in January, for his feats of arms as a competitor, and for his « service as an ambassador, for the community ».
