Red Bull: Liam Lawson replaces (...)

Following the dismissal of Juri Vips, Red Bull has decided to promote Liam Lawson to the position of reserve player, as confirmed by Christian Horner, the director of the Austrian team.

The Estonian pilot saw his contract come to an end after using racist remarks during a Twitch stream in June. He still kept his driving at Hitech in Formula 2 for the rest of the season.

Lawson, a New Zealand driver, is also playing in F2 this year with the Carlin team, with whom he has scored two successes.

« Liam Lawson will now fill this role, obviously following the announcement about Juri Vips, » said Christian Horner.

Daruvala was allowed to test with McLaren F1 at Silverstone recently, and Christian Horner explains that Red Bull is doing everything to develop the drivers in its pipeline as well as possible.

“Obviously we have some very promising youngsters at the moment. We of course have Liam Lawson and Dennis Hauger in Formula 2, and Daruvala remains one of our junior drivers even though he has done a test with another team.

« Ayumu Iwaza is also showing great things, and we’re only talking about F2. In Formula 3 it’s great to see Jonny Edgar back from his nasty illness earlier in the year, he deserved another chance Isack Hadjar is also doing a very good job, we are not lacking in talent through the various promotion formulas. »

« And that has always been Red Bull’s policy: to give a chance and opportunities to these young people who otherwise would not have the chance to progress so much in their careers. »
