Norris and McLaren F1 have regained (...)

After the very complicated last weekend at Spa, Lando Norris is satisfied to have had a good Friday at Zandvoort where he set the 4th time during the two free practice sessions. What to find a position more representative of the real level of McLaren F1 this weekend? The Brit hopes.

« It was a reasonably good day, » Norris said. « We are back to where we have usually been, closer to the front and in the middle of the field. There are positives to take away: the car handles well, both on low and high fuel . »

« I think we’re well placed. It’s still tight both ahead and behind us, but if we can squeeze a bit more out of the car tonight then we’ll have a good chance of scoring points on Sunday. »

Daniel Ricciardo was also present in the top 10 of the two sessions at Zandvoort, suffering all the same a small technical problem in the afternoon. But the Australian driver is generally confident for the rest of the weekend.

« It’s good to be back on this circuit. Unfortunately we lost some time due to an oil leak in FP2, but seeing the pace Lando is showing, it’s promising, » commented the Australian.

« We’ve made some changes for FP2 which seem to have worked, so we’re confident with the direction that’s been taken. Overall I think it was a good day for the team and we’ll have to proceed. a few adjustments tonight. »

Andrea Stella, the executive director of McLaren F1, is encouraged by the performance of his team but recalls that everything remains to be decided this weekend.

« The team had a productive day. There were a few issues, especially for Daniel who missed the stint with a lot of fuel at the end of FP2. But other than that everything went well. »

“We have made progress on our understanding of the tires and the set-up, and we seem to be in a much better position than at Spa. We are looking forward to qualifying and then the race, but we still have a lot of work to do tonight if we want to stay as competitive. »
