Formula 1 | Marko spoke to Verstappen about the mutual respect to be had with Hamilton

Dr Helmut Marko has tackled Lewis Hamilton again, following reports the seven-time world champion injured his neck at Monza in his crash with Max Verstappen.

Marko has already mentioned the « stories » Hamilton and Mercedes on those injuries, adding that the 36-year-old Briton and his team have « do the show » in the process.

« The whole incident certainly did not endanger his life, » claims the consultant of Red Bull today.

« If he had really had severe neck pain or issues, he wouldn’t have been in New York the next day in the very funny outfit he appeared in. »

« If you take a seven-hour flight to New York with a neck injury after an incident like this, this shouldn’t be so bad. »

Marko, however, takes seriously the potential gravity of the battles to come between his pilot and Hamilton.

« For our part, we spoke to Max after the accident. We are trying to influence Max so that there is mutual respect on the track and collisions are avoided as much as possible. »

« But they are racing drivers. When the visor is down, all of that is forgotten. You just have to hope that the words stay somewhere in the brain. »
