Formula 1 | Marko expects record attendance at Austrian GP

Helmut Marko welcomes ticket purchases for the Austrian F1 Grand Prix, which will be the round following the British Grand Prix. The race will take place at the Red Bull Ring from July 8-10, and the Red Bull consultant hails the number of fans expected.

« Sunday was full for a long time » Marko told Osterreich newspaper. « There are still tickets for Saturday and a few tickets for Friday. »

He believes the unprecedented interest is not just due to F1’s recent resurgence in popularity, but also because Austria will host the second Sprint Race of the season, after Imola.

« This year we have a sprint in Spielberg for the first time. As a result, the event has improved significantly. »

According to him, we have to wait « well over 200,000 fans and therefore the biggest attendance ever at the Red Bull Ring ».
