Formula 1 | Marko doesn’t see a breakthrough between Hamilton and Verstappen
According to Helmut Marko, consultant for Red Bull, the clash between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen at Silverstone will leave traces in the relationship between the two men in the long term, and in particular in the fight for the championship.
« We want to win the world title and for that we have to score as many points as possible » reminds Marko as obvious. « Max knows it, Hamilton knows it too. »
« But something happened that can’t be undone so quickly in the relationship between these two, if at all. But I hope both of them can stay fair and keep the situation under control. . «
Marko says Verstappen could have more points, even without the incidents of the last two races, as Hamilton regained the lead in the drivers’ championship.
« I think Max has proven this season that he is really a candidate for the world championship. In Bahrain, of course, we had some problems with the limits of the track, which cost us the victory, the pole and the best lap. «
« The hammer blow in Baku was a great pity, as he was leading expertly and lost his victory because of this puncture. But his attitude and his relaxed approach to the races show that he has taken another step to the top. «
