Formula 1 launches full speed into the night at Silverstone – car news
The Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team had the original idea of celebrating Christmas by sending to the track in the middle of the night, on a Silverstone circuit entirely decorated with illuminations for the occasion, a Formula 1 Mercedes W10 single-seater from 2019.
Apart from specific Grand Prix events such as those in Bahrain, Singapore, Saudi Arabia or Abu Dhabi, organized at night on perfectly lit tracks, rare are the occasions to see Formula single-seater evolving at night. 1 which are obviously not designed for this. Yet it is indeed a night demonstration that the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team organized for these end-of-year celebrations.
The Brackley team (Great Britain) has indeed sent to the track on a course of Silverstone plunged into the night, an example of the W10 single-seater with which Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton have defended their colors in the Formula World Championship. 1 2019, and concluded it with the titles driver (for Hamilton) and manufacturer (for Mercedes).
British driver Anthony Davidson slipped into the seat of this single-seater to complete a lap of the Silverstone track, lit only by various and varied illuminations including in particular giant Christmas trees.
An experience that the Mercedes-AMG reserve driver described as « one of the craziest and scariest tricks of his life », and which you can now experience from the inside (on board camera) thanks to the following video.
