Formula 1 | Haas F1: Magnussen should be in good shape in three months
Kevin Magnussen made a surprise return to Formula 1 this year, as Haas F1 was set to replace Nikita Mazepin at short notice. The Dane is happy to find this environment, as confirmed by his manager, Günther Steiner.
« I think he’s matured over the last year, and he’s realized how good it is to be in Formula 1. » Steiner said. « When you’re away from F1 you realize what you’ve lost, and bringing it back into your life is a dream. »
Magnussen suffered greatly in Jeddah, due to a neck that couldn’t withstand the stresses of the fast Saudi circuit. His physical trainer, Thomas Jorgensen, explains that it will take several months for Magnussen, who has been racing in IMSA so far, to be perfectly fit.
« It’s not that he’s out of shape » explains Jorgensen. « The problem is that he didn’t use the muscles he needed in F1. Sports cars don’t require as much physical strength as F1. »
« It will take Kevin some time to fully recover. Usually it should take two months during the winter, if he could train every day. »
« But now that the season has started and there are more travel and racing days, it’s even more difficult to do the usual routines, so it will be another three months until Kevin is in good shape. «
