Formula 1 | Gasly worries in Austin, Tsunoda wants to be confident

Pierre Gasly had a good start to the day in Austin with a sixth position, before dropping down in the second session. The AlphaTauri driver did not manage to find the good behavior of his car in the afternoon, which worries him for the rest of the weekend.

« It was a pretty tough afternoon for us, the car didn’t seem to be working so we have a lot of work to do before tomorrow » Gasly notes. « I think these are the most difficult FP2s we’ve had this season, it’s very strange because so far we’ve been competitive everywhere. »

“But it was very difficult here in Austin today. We’re going to work hard tonight, I’m sure we have more pace to find, and I’m confident that we can be more competitive in qualifying. «

For Yuki Tsunoda, the full day took place at the bottom of the standings, with an 18th and 16th place in both sessions. The Japanese is more positive than his teammate: « It was a very pleasant first day of driving here in Austin. »

“It’s obviously still a new circuit for me, but I think I found a good approach pretty quickly, and it was fun behind the wheel. However, there are a lot of things we need to work on tonight. «

« The pace of the car is not quite on point yet, and I also struggled with the limits of the track at turn 19. We will analyze all the data and I believe we can get back to our good performance tomorrow. «
