Formula 1 | Father Mazepin could buy another team than Haas F1

Nikita Mazepin has been driving Formula 1 this year, and the Russian will continue with Haas F1 next year. The team is now sponsored by Uralkali, the company of his father Dmitry, but it is not according to him the only reason for his presence.

« I have my place because I am a racing driver and the team sees me as an asset » Mazepin told Bild am Sonntag. « The reason for this sponsorship is that the company sees F1 as a business opportunity. I am the only Russian driver and a Russian company will always want to invest in a team that has a compatriot. »

Rumor has it that Dmitry Mazepin will buy out an F1 team in the coming months. His son Nikita thinks the idea would be interesting for his father but considers the purchase to be on a structure other than Haas F1, which would be a surprise.

“It would be an interesting option for him. He turned everything he started to gold. But I’m very loyal to Haas. So if he bought a team it would be exciting to see how they are doing and hopefully. that we will beat them. « 

He could also ride for his father’s team: « I wouldn’t rule him out. I’m currently part of a team that is in tenth place in the constructors’ championship. But like I said, I’m loyal. I want to be successful with Haas. «
