Formula 1 | Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps has a new general manager
Meeting on January 27, 2022, the Board of Directors of the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps has appointed Amaury Bertholomé as the new Managing Director of the company.
This appointment comes at the end of a recruitment process led by a selection panel, itself supported by a recruitment office specializing in the selection of executive profiles.
Committed to a major investment plan currently being implemented, the Circuit is currently undergoing a transformation phase which responds to the strategy aimed at obtaining dual FIA/FIM homologation which allows the return of motorcycle endurance racing to Spa-Francorchamps. , and the improvement of spaces dedicated to spectators.
Melchior Wathelet, President of the Circuit of Spa-Francorchamps:
“I am delighted with this decision. Struck by the tragic disappearance of Nathalie Maillet, the circuit needed a new General Manager, capable of uniting the teams and continuing the transformation of the circuit initiated by Nathalie. Amaury Bertholomé knows the circuit’s structure and short- and long-term challenges. He has also, in the context of previous functions, maintained close contact with the Circuit and Spa Grand Prix teams. Likewise, he has shown in the past his involvement in the circuit and his ability to support it. His arrival reinforces our diversification strategy and anchors the investment plan supported by ING and SOGEPA. I take this opportunity to thank the teams who, in the meantime, have ensured the transition with a masterful hand in a difficult context and wish the new CEO a great success at the head of the most beautiful circuit in the world. »
Amaury Bertholome, General Manager of the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps from February 14, 2022:
“I am very happy to participate in the development of the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, which is a strong economic, sporting, tourist and identity tool for our region. The economic development of Wallonia passes in particular through sites of excellence which ensure its influence. The ambitious strategy initiated at the Circuit a few years ago makes it possible to keep it on the map of the essential circuits for motor sports, hosting the most beautiful world competitions, while preserving its accessibility for the benefit of its local public. I look forward to continuing to implement this strategy with the team in place, who are very committed and mobilized, and to amplify it in environmental terms. »
