Formula 1 | Charles Leclerc is aiming for nothing but victory at Silverstone

Charles Leclerc is not aiming for anything else

On the podium in the last three races at Silverstone, Charles Leclerc has never yet won in Great Britain but it will of course be his ambition for the weekend. The Ferrari driver is badly in need of points as Max Verstappen soared to the top of the Formula 1 world championship.

« We need to win now, » said Leclerc in reference to these three past podiums. « In the last three races here we haven’t had the best car to fight for these positions, but this year we have a car to win, so that’s what we’re aiming for. »

The Monegasque changed engine two weeks ago in Montreal and it will therefore only be his second race at Silverstone. Leclerc thus hopes not to have to worry about reliability this weekend.

« It doesn’t give me more confidence in terms of performance, but in terms of reliability, yes. There’s nothing new about this engine compared to the previous ones, it’s not like we have more power, but it’s a fresh engine so hopefully I don’t run into any problems We want a clean weekend, which I don’t think we’ve had since Miami, so hopefully that will be the case this this time and we can win. »

As the mid-season draws near, Leclerc is well aware that he and Ferrari must do their utmost to close the gap on Max Verstappen and Red Bull.

« Obviously, it’s a very important month before the summer break, we are quite far in the drivers’ championship and we want to catch up. The next races will be crucial. »
