Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix – Start time, how to watch, and more.

The Red Bull driver dominated qualifying to claim his second pole position of the season in mixed conditions. He beat closest rival Fernando Alonso, who landed his first F1 front row start in 10 years.

Alonso’s impressive feat lifted Carlos Sainz back to third for Ferrari as he led the charge for the Italian team, with Charles Leclerc already set to start the Canadian GP from the back row of the grid because of his engine change penalty.

But Verstappen also had to fly solo in Q3 for Red Bull as teammate Sergio Perez crashed in wet Q2 leaving him 13th for the race.

In an upset grid order, Haas enjoyed a stunning qualifying with Kevin Magnussen in fifth and Mick Schumacher in sixth, ahead of Alpine’s Esteban Ocon.

George Russell was the only driver to bet on dry tires in Q3 and the risk backfired when he skidded on his final lap, dropping him to eighth place at Mercedes.

Daniel Ricciardo (McLaren) and rookie Zhou Guanyu (Alfa Romeo) complete the top 10, with the Chinese driver making his first appearance in Q3.
