Formula 1 | Audi and Sauber would be a ‘perfect marriage’ in F1 according to Seidl

Audi and Sauber in collaboration in Formula 1, it would be a « perfect marriage ».

This is the astonishing opinion of Andreas Seidl, who knows the Volkswagen group well after leading the Porsche program in the WEC.

Today he is the boss of the McLaren F1 team, which has reportedly rejected a €650m takeover bid from Audi, which, like Porsche, is seeking to enter F1 for 2026.

« Audi and Sauber would be a very good choice for the future, a perfect marriage, » says Seidl, referring to the Swiss-based team, which has been racing under the Alfa Romeo name for a few years.

« The Swiss have an excellent infrastructure with their wind tunnel and would be ready for such a challenge. »

The German, however, hinted that the sticking point of a Sauber-Audi deal could be the same one that doomed – a priori – a McLaren-Audi deal.

« I think a lot depends on the owners of the team. How much is the Rausing family willing to leave behind? »
