Formula 1 | Aston Martin F1: Stroll signs his best result of the season


For only the third time this season, the two Aston Martin F1 drivers have returned to the points together. Lance Stroll signs his best result of the season with sixth place, and the Canadian is satisfied with his Qatar Grand Prix.

« The car was good today and I am very happy with our performance » Stroll said. « I gained a few places in the first round and during the first stint it was clear that we had the pace to perform. »

« I doubled [Yuki] Tsunoda with the mediums and then after catching up with the guys in front I did the undercut to [Carlos] Sainz to move up to sixth after stopping to put on the tough guys. « 

« Overall, everything went perfectly for us today and scoring eight points at the end of this triple encounter is a very satisfying reward for all of our hard work. »

Sebastian Vettel, for his part, finished tenth after starting from the same place. A failed start that sent him to 17th place surely cost him a top 5, given his starting position.

« The start of the race turned out to be very expensive » regrets Vettel. « We were at the back of the field after the first corner. We pulled the field up well from 17th place, but we lost the potential to score more points. »

“As we approached the first corner, there were a lot of cars around me and I was stuck. I tried to go around on the outside but the track was dirtier than I expected and I ‘ve slipped off. « 

A maneuver that is expensive according to the quadruple world champion, satisfied with his AMR21: « It’s frustrating because the car was fast, especially when we were in clean air, and it helped me get back to 10th place. »

« After the first lap it was a solid race, a good recovery, but it hurts when you start off on the wrong foot right away. It’s great to see both cars in the points today, there is so a lot of positive points to take away from the weekend. «
