Formula 1 | Alpine F1: Alonso is less talkative than Ricciardo on the radio

Fernando Alonso is often very direct in his radio communications, especially in recent years. The Alpine F1 driver provides the information his team asks of him, without adding any more, unlike the one he replaced, Daniel Ricciardo.

« Fernando uses far fewer words than Daniel » notes Karel Loos, the track engineer of the Spanish pilot. « But you get to know each other better and better and understand what the other wants. »

However, Loos praises the precision of Alonso’s returns, as well as his openness when his team offers him something. He is also happy that his driver is able to help the team to read the race and the evolution of his car.

« He’s very focused on the details. Fernando gives his opinion but doesn’t force it. If he thinks something but an engineer says ‘it’s different, here’s why’, he accepts that and fully supports it. Fernando is very good at reading a race. It helps a lot. «
