Formula 1 | After Qatar ‘we all want Fernando to stay in F1 longer’ says Brawn

Fernando Alonso is certainly the driver who has achieved one of the best Grand Prix of the field in Qatar.

Having started and finished 3rd, the Alpine rider signed his first podium since the 2014 Hungaroring, and Ross Brawn logically made it his « Weekend pilot » like the fans.

“Like Lewis, he adapted to the track very quickly and this Alpine worked well all weekend. He’s having so much fun. He is in his element. «

While one could doubt the motivation or the attitude of Fernando Alonso for his return to F1, in the middle of the grid at Alpine, the manager of motorsports for Liberty Media is like everyone completely reassured by the season of the ‘Spanish in general and the Losail weekend in particular.

“I’m a huge fan of Fernando and I’ve always been frustrated that he only won two world championships for someone of his talent. He is a man who is still in love with F1 and it shows. «

“He has a lot of talent. Maybe the prospect he has now, after some time away from the sport, could help him. It’s great to see him on the podium and it’s great to see that Alpine has done so well this weekend. «

What if Fernando Alonso had also left to stay longer than two years in F1? In view of such a race, Ross Brawn almost wishes it.

« Will that make him stay a little longer? » Who knows ? I think we all want Fernando to stay a bit longer. He drives very well. He deserves to be there, there is no doubt about it. It’s great for sports, great for fans, great for everyone. «
