Napoli striker Victor Osimhen on Saturday (March 20) equaled the record of African legends Samuel Eto’o, Mohamed Salah and George Weah after scoring a brace in his side’s 2-1 Serie A victory over Udinese.
Two goals from Osimhen saw Napoli beat Udinese at the Diego Armando Maradona stadium. Osimhen’s two goals against the visitors took him to 11 for the Serie A campaign.
It makes the Super Eagles striker the first Nigerian to achieve back-to-back double figures in Serie A, as he became the fourth African player to achieve the feat in the Italian top league, after Weah for Milan, Eto ‘o for Inter Milan and Salah for AS Roma.
The 23-year-old will now hope to lead Napoli to victory when they face Atalanta in their next Serie A match after the international break.
Speaking after the encounter, Osimhen told DAZN: “The atmosphere was incredible. We had a good reaction after the first half. It was essential to win and I thank the fans for their support.
We have to believe that we can win the league. There are still eight games and we have to continue like this. »
