On the men’s side there’s Neymar (and his €222m), and on the women’s side there’s now Keira Walsh. Recruited by FC Barcelona, the English international has become the most expensive football player in history. The midfielder, crowned European champion with England this summer, was sold by Manchester City to the Catalan club for the record sum of 460,000 euros. The previous record was held by Denmark’s Pernille Harder, who left Wolfsburg to join Chelsea for 350,000 euros.

Aged 25, Keira Walsh, who made her professional debut in 2014, had only one year left on her contract with the English club and wanted a new experience. Manchester City then had to resolve to let her go after rejecting several offers from Barça, where she signed a three-year contract. She will join her new team after the qualifying matches for the next World Cup that she is playing with the English team.
Voted best player in the Euro final and considered one of the best midfielders in the world, Keira Walsh was crowned English champion in 2016 and lifted four League Cups as well as three FA Cups with City. And in Barcelona, beaten in the final last May by Olympique Lyonnais, it will try to add the first Champions League to its list.
