Football / SU Agen: the rue de Lille club celebrates its 100th anniversary

the essential
Great start for a weekend of festivities at the SUA Football facilities. A rich program awaits the participants.

The co-presidents Johan Jourdan and Sandrine Pequignot, the management team and the volunteers have been preparing for this centenary for several months, which will look like a reunion. Because all generations, from the oldest to the most recent, are invited to this family celebration.

There will be players who evolved in the immediate post-war period within Red Star Agenais. Are also expected those who made the great hours of the club in the 70s when Pech, Lafon and others challenged the leaders of Third Division. We will also find those who made PSG tremble on an afternoon in January 2011 in the Coupe de France. The players of the current team who, by accessing R2, restore a little luster to the club will obviously be part of the party. And many others, from those who made the headlines to the most modest who proudly wore the « blue and white » jersey and wrote its history.

In the presence of Marouane Chamakh and Philippe Bergerôo

A story that begins in 1922 when the SU Agen sports club created a football section. The epic will continue within Agen-Sportif, the club created by the industrialist Granges in 1938, then Red Star agenais in 1946. The « soccers » will return to the bosom of SU Agen in 1960.
The party will be placed under the aegis of two prestigious guests. The local Marouane Chamakh first. The native of Tonneins, former Arsenal player and Moroccan international, will be present tonight at the inauguration of the renovated synthetic pitch. The presence of Philippe Bergerôo, former goalkeeper of the France team, former coach of PSG and former coach of the French women’s team, is announced tomorrow Sunday for the tribute to Ali Amellal.

Throughout the weekend, a tribute will be paid to the veterans, in particular through the exhibition which traces 100 years of football at the SUA. Another highlight will be the presentation of the first Christian Alexandre trophy at the end of the match between the SUA and the EBBE. But the youngest will not be forgotten with many activities planned.
