Appointed last July as coach of FC Saint Eloi Lupopo, Mohamed Magassouba arrived in Lubumbashi (Democratic Republic of Congo/DRC) last Thursday, August 11, 2022. Eagerly awaited by the leaders and supporters of this club, he immediately put to work with Mahamadou Sidibé dit Maha (physical trainer for goalkeepers) who accompanies him in this adventure aimed at allowing FC Saint Éloi Lupopo to rise in the elite of the best African clubs.
« President Jacques Kyabula presented me with a reliable, convincing project that could allow us all to get to work to help this team.said Mohamed Magassouba upon his arrival in Lubumbashi last Thursday (August 11, 2022). We understand then that he immediately got to work after explaining his methods and his philosophy to these young colts to whom he gave a speech judged by the supporters « responsible and ambitious« . For the occasion, the new coach of « Railway workersreminded his foals of his philosophy, to play and convince. « You don’t have to play just to win, but to impose yourself and convince. The public comes to the stadium to also see the show“, underlined Mohamed Magassouba.
« When you come to a club as ambitious as FC St Eloi Lupopo, you have to work to achieve all the objectives at the same time. We must therefore work hard to win the LNF and hope to snatch the cup (chopped off) of the African competition in which we are engagedMagassouba told the local press. And for him,the results go through the players who are at the center of the performance. If you have good players, you have already taken a big step towards performance« .
In this regard, the club has just offered two major reinforcements. They are Peter Ikoyo Iyembe (28), a Congolese international central defender who has just arrived from Daring club motema pembe (DCMP); and Heir Mongo Lompala Mokamba (28) who leaves the Angolans of Clube Desportivo Primeiro de Agosto. If Ikoyo signed a one-year contract (2023), Mongo signed up for two years (2024).
It should be remembered that FC St Eloi Lupopo is exempt from the first preliminary round of the CAF Cup following the withdrawal of « Security Systems XI FCfrom Botswana. This disclaimer sends the “Cheminotsin the round of 16 that they will play against the Angolans of Grupo Desportivo Sagrada Esperança. The first leg is scheduled in Lubumbashi between October 7 and 9, 2022 and the return match in Luanda a week later.
Note that the Football Club Saint Eloi Lupopo was founded in 1939 in Lubumbashi (formerly Elisabethville). It was created by a railway worker from the railway company, Mr. Van Den Brook alias “Kawaya“, head of the social service in search of distraction for his employees after working hours.
This training, which has great ambitions on the African scene, is led by Jacques Kyabula Katwe, a Congolese politician and governor of Haut-Katanga since 2019. And he could not have chosen better than Mohamed Magassouba, CAF elite instructor and FIFA Technical Expert.
The former National Technical Director (DTN) and former national coach of the Eagles of Mali, was also recently chosen by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to join its Technical and Development Commission. A narrowly missed qualification!
After his appointment asContinental Elite Instructor » by CAF in August 2019, « coachwas also designated as a world expert by FIFA in January 2020. The former coach of Mali is accompanied in his new role by Mahamadou Sidibé dit Maha, physical trainer for the goalkeepers.
