Unlike last year, RMC Sport should not obtain the agreement of Canal + to broadcast the Premier League next season.
Holder of Premier League TV rights until June 2025, Canal + should offer the English championship exclusively to its subscribers this season. And for good reason, L’Equipe reveals that for the time being, no agreement has been reached between the encrypted channel and RMC Sport for a co-broadcast of the Premier League, as was the case in 2021-2022. After several weeks of discussions between the two chains, it was recorded that the operation will not be renewed. Last season, Canal + and RMC Sport shared the broadcasting of the Premier League but also the 100 million euros of the contract per season. For the coming cycle, Canal has negotiated the contract down with the Premier League by more than 20%. Thanks to this margin, the channel will allow itself the luxury of keeping the TV rights of the English championship for itself.

On the side of RMC Sport, on the other hand, we continue to believe in it as Arthur Dreyfuss, the CEO of the media of the Altice group, indicated to L’Equipe. “Discussions with Canal+ are still ongoing. We have not received any information from Canal indicating that the discussions have been terminated and have not been successful” he explained. Needless to say, if RMC Sport were no longer able to offer the Premier League to its subscribers next season, the usefulness for viewers of subscribing to this subscription would be reduced. The channel would nevertheless retain the co-broadcast with Canal + of two Champions League posters, the entire Europa League and the entire Europa Conference League in addition to the Portuguese championship. Meager consolation prizes for the chain of the Altice group.
