In Servette, this Sunday afternoon, we will watch very carefully the duel between Young Boys and Lugano. At stake, perhaps, there will be a place at the top of the Super League if the Bernese do not manage to impose themselves. Because the Genevans did the job: they beat Zurich 3-2 thanks to a goal in the 95th minute from David Douline.

It therefore took a corner from Théo Valls taken over by the French midfielder to topple La Praille and its more than 10,000 spectators. And propel the SFC temporarily at the top of the championship. A somewhat miraculous success, given the difficulty that the Garnets will have had to force fate, after having spent twenty minutes in numerical superiority (after the expulsion of Okita in the 73rd).

Cognat: 150 matches and one goal from the start

Before that, this Servette will have had a mixed match. He was sometimes carefree. This allowed him to execute movements that embodied a certain confidence, with this ability to develop fluid actions and invest the spaces according to what the game requires.

Like when, following a superb control, Rodelin followed for Miroslav Stevanovic who had felt the blow and attacked his preferential center zone. We had been playing for one hundred and twenty seconds at La Praille, and Timothé Cognat, just honored for his 150th match under the Servettian colors, projected himself into the area to open the scoring.

We also think of the second Geneva goal, with ease in the sequences. Just before the break, Pflücke, Antunes and Cognat took turns to allow Moritz Bauer to score his first garnet goal, with a powerful strike at the near post of Brecher’s goal.

Crivelli’s entry is a game-changer

Problem: The advantage didn’t hold. Because this form of recklessness could drift into negligence. At the heart of a somewhat sterile possession, there were these levities of Antunes and Bauer. The ball was lost and in two passes Zurich could equalize for the first time, thanks to Okita who was served in the back of the defense and could lob a Frick half out of his cages (21st). It was the same Okita who, just after the break, was easily found between the lines, eliminated Douline and lit up Frick with a superb shot into the top corner.

It was before the entry of Enzo Crivelli changed the game. The Frenchman will have done almost everything right, until this strike in the 94th minute which forced Brecher to lie down and send the ball for a corner. The rest, Servette knows it. And can enjoy it.
