Football: Bennacer becomes the first Algerian player to win the title of Italian champion
Italy Foot: Algerian international Ismaël Bennacer achieves a historic feat after being crowned with AC Milan in the Italian League.
After this coronation, Bennacer is considered the first Algerian player to obtain the title of « Scudetto » in the history of the participation of Algerian players with Italian clubs in the competition.
No Algerian player has ever won the Italian League before Bennacer, as former Lazio star Mourad Meghni and Napoli star Faouzi Ghoulam have previously only won the Italian Cup and Italian Super without a championship title.
Ismaël Bennacer has contributed a lot to the title of champion of his Milanese club this season, as he has produced a distinguished performance throughout the competition phases and in all the meetings he has played.
The Milan league crowning glory came after fierce competition with second-placed Milan club Inter, who competed with the Rossoneri for the final round of the tournament.
The red club was able to settle the title in the thirty-eighth round after their fine victory over Sassuolo Club by three clean points, the same result that ended in Inter’s meeting against Sampdoria.
Milan finished the league with 86 points at the top of the league table, while Inter came second with 84 points, and Napoli and Juventus came third and fourth respectively.
Milan have been absent from the league’s crowning podiums since 2011, in a long period of inactivity during which Juventus controlled the ‘Scudetto’ back and forth, winning 9 titles in a row since then, before the ‘Inter Milan broke that chain last season to snatch the title.
