Antananarivo, September 14, 11:50 am – Ahmad Ahmad, former president of the African Football Confederation (CAF) and former president of the Malagasy Football Federation (FMF) comes out of his silence. Invited in a special program on the set of a local private television channel, the former boss of African football did not mince words to denounce the chaotic management of the Malagasy national football team, according to him in part to the origin of the current poor results of Barea. « They are all responsible, » he says, alluding to the FMF and the state.
The former boss of CAF evokes a Federation in which anarchy reigns. According to him the FMF no longer has « any rule or principle ». « There are laws which govern the functioning of the Federation » explains Ahmad Ahmad, referring to certain decisions taken by the FMF recently. « It is the majority that must decide, » he continues.The former senator and minister also castigates « interference » too pronounced by the state in the affairs of the Federation. He speaks of a “Federation delegating the power of the State”. « Employees of the Federation have complained to me » indicates Ahmad Ahmad because « the State wants to take care of tickets for the Barea match ». According to the former head of the FMF, the state should be content « to provide equipment and finance the team as is done in other African countries » and not deal with the administrative affairs of the Federation.⭕️According to Ahmad Ahmad, the current national team still has the level to do better. The proof was the good reaction on Tanzanian soil, when the Barea managed to pick up the score after being led by two goals to zero before half-time. He notes, however, that to succeed in a new course like that of CAN 2019, there are many things that must be reviewed. His presence at CAF combined with a generation of players who have played together for some time and a high-level coach allowed the Malagasy to go to CAN 2019. According to him the state had not initiated anything into the era.
Ahmad Ahmad was suspended from all football-related activities for five years in November 2020 by the FIFA Ethics Committee. He was accused of having violated the code of ethics of this world football body, in particular of embezzlement.
