Florida Panthers knock out Washington Capitals in first round of NHL playoffs

The Panthers will have had to wait 26 years. Thanks to its victory over the Washington Capitals on the night of Friday to Saturday (4-3 ap), the Florida franchise, which had joined the NHL in 1993, crossed the first round of the play-offs for the first time since 1996 , the year she even reached the Stanley Cup final.

Thanks to Carter Verhaeghe’s winning goal in overtime, author of five points in the previous game, the Panthers managed to overcome Alex Ovechkin’s tape in six games. Since their title in 2018, the Caps have never made it past the first round of the playoffs.

NY Rangers and Dallas Stars force Game 7

If Florida, like Saint-Louis (against Minnesota), managed to conclude the first round after the sixth game, five series will have to be decided after a seventh decisive meeting! In position to eliminate the Rangers on their ice but orphaned by their captain Sidney Crosby, victim of a concussion during the previous game, the Pittsburgh Penguins missed the boat and lost to the New Yorkers (5-3).

In the South of the United States, the Dallas Stars also managed to force a game 7 thanks to their victory at home against the Calgary Flames (4-2). They will play their qualification for the next round on the night of Sunday to Monday.
