Fixed ! Schöpf signs with the MLS club
It’s fixed! Alessandro Schöpf will now make a living in MLS.
The Vancouver Whitecapes have signed the Legionnaire from the ÖFB. The Tyrolean signs with the Canadiens until 2024, with an option until 2025.
Recently, the player with 32 selections with the ÖFB played for Arminia Bielefeld in the German Bundesliga. Schöpf left the club for free after relegation to the top division.
“Big step from Europe to North America”
“I am very happy to be here. It’s a big step for me to move from European football to North America,” Schöpf said. He hopes to bring great success to Canada. « I can’t wait to perform in front of the fans at BC Place, » adds the former Schalke 04 player.
« We had Alessandro on the radar for a long time, » said sporting director Axel Schuster. « He runs a lot, covers a lot of space, has a good combination game and a lot of experience in some of the best competitions in world football. »
The 28-year-old Tyrolean is therefore already the third of the ÖFB players to earn a living in MLS. Christian Fuchs (Charlotte FC) and Ercan Kara (Orlando City) are the other two Austrian expatriates across the Atlantic.
