Fire in the Monts d’Arrée. The equivalent of 1,600 football pitches went up in smoke


The prefecture took stock, at 8 a.m., Wednesday July 20, of the fire which broke out in the Arrée mountains (Finistère), a little less than 48 hours earlier.

At this time, 1,725 ​​hectares have been swallowed by the flames, the equivalent of more than 1,600 football fields. The prefecture indicates: “The progression of the fire is slowing down and the situation is being brought under control. » The day before, at 5 p.m., the damage amounted to 1,700 hectares that had gone up in smoke.

278 firefighters mobilized on site

On site, 278 firefighters and 60 fire-fighting vehicles are present on site.

In terms of traffic, several roads are still closed:

– RD 764 from Commana, to La Feuillée

– RD 785 from Roch Tredudon, to Brasparts

– RD 11 – Commana sector, south of the RD764

– RD 30 and RD 42 – Saint-Rivoal, Saint Cadou and Botmeur sector

Since July 18, 2022, nearly 500 people have been evacuated from their homes.
