Ferrari boss Mattia Binotto has said he will soon meet Mick Schumacher to discuss his future with the Ferrari Driver Academy, of which the young German is a member.
Mick Schumacher has been a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy since 2019 and, after winning the F2 championship in 2020, the German was promoted to Formula 1 with the Haas team – Ferrari’s premier class partner. However, rumors suggest that Schumacher will leave the Ferrari Driver Academy at the end of the season and that he could also find a seat in another team on the grid. Asked about Schumacher’s future with the FDA, Binotto did not confirm the rumors but said he would speak with Mick Schumacher within a few races regarding his future.
“The Ferrari Driver Academy is for us an important pillar of our team. We are investing a lot in it and we will continue to invest a lot in the Ferrari Driver Academy.” declared Binotto in a press conference in Monza a few days ago.
“The reason is that we think it’s important to develop the best talent and look to the future, to try to find the best talent for the red car. Regarding Mick, as we said at the start of the season, it is important that Mick improves this season.
« We will sit down with him in a few races to take stock of his season, and we will also sit down with Haas and decide on his best future. »
The FDA has a number of drivers entered into the program, including Schumacher’s former F2 teammate Robert Shwartzman, who will make his EL1 debut with the Ferrari team next month at the United States Grand Prix.
