Ferrari SP51: new one-off based on Ferrari 812 GTS

The Maranello manufacturer has produced, at the request of one of its long-time customers based in Taiwan, a new one-off called SP51 and developed around the Ferrari 812 GTS.

This new achievement designed through the brand’s special projects program was finalized at Ferrari’s style center under the supervision of its manager Flavio Manzoni.

The SP51 project was the subject of computer simulations before going into the wind tunnel and observing the dynamic tests intended to perfect its aerodynamic qualities. This SP51 is indeed presented with a bodywork with new shapes made with great reinforcement of carbon fiber, and integrating in particular a front bumper with a specific light signature, a redesigned and openwork engine bonnet, as well as a rear section redesigned by compared to the 812 GTS.

The two bosses present behind the passenger and driver seats, are here softened and equipped with carbon scoops, and connected by a wing also made of carbon fiber. This is reminiscent of the Targa models and is more specifically inspired by the Sport Prototypes designed by Ferrari in the early 1960s.

A unique livery called Rosso Passionale

The vehicle, which is based on a set of rims of its own, is finally also inspired by the past in terms of its livery. Baptized « Rosso Passionale », this color is embellished here with blue and white notes taken from the legendary Ferrari 410 S of 1955. These two colors form a « racing » band which runs along the body of the vehicle, and is also found in his cabin.

The latter receives finishes in Alcantara color “Rosso Passionale”, enhanced with blue and white touches visible in particular on the central tunnel, the fairing between the two seats and the steering wheel of the vehicle. Finally, the Maranello Roadster receives carbon fiber trim in a gloss finish, and other elements designed in a “Nero Momo Opaco” finish.

Ferrari did not give any details concerning the engine of this one-off SP51, which joins in particular on the list of its special projects the SP38 of 2018 (developed around the 488 Pista) as well as the Ferrari Monza SP1 and Monza SP2 based on the Ferrari 812 Superfast.

The SP51 must logically be powered by the 6.5-liter V12 of 800 hp and 718 Nm present under the hood of the 812 GTS, and which allows the latter to spin at 340 km / h after having accelerated from 0 to 100 km / h in only 3 seconds.
