As always eagerly awaited, but perhaps even more so this year with the arrival of new regulations and as the team intends to return to the fight for victory after two difficult seasons, the presentation of the new Scuderia Ferrari F1 has took place this Thursday, as a prelude to the first official pre-season tests, at the Barcelona circuit next week.

Unsurprisingly, the car that Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz will drive will be red, but darker than usual, to celebrate the brand’s 75th anniversary. In a presentation that was unpretentious, Mattia Binotto, team principal, said that, « we faced challenges when designing the F1-75, so it is full of innovations ». He was of course referring to the new rules which forced the teams back to square one.

This will be Charles Leclerc’s fourth season with the Scuderia. The Monegasque has two victories in his first year, in 2019, in Belgium then in Italy. « I expect even more this season, » he said during the presentation. “I work very hard, and this year will be pivotal for the team and for us as drivers. We have to make sure that with our work behind the scenes, we achieve our goals,” he adds.

Carlos Sainz will start his second season with Ferrari. Last year, when the season was once again difficult for the manufacturer, the young Spanish pilto played an exemplary season punctuated by three podiums, in Hungary, in Russia then in Abu Dhabi. « I’m ready for the 2022 season. I learned how the team works and how the brand (Ferrari) works as well. Now is the time for the team to take it to another level,” he said.

For Carlos, the question of driver visibility in his new single-seaters seems to be the most problematic element, with the new 18-inch tires from Pirelli: « The changes will create good races, but visibility will be difficult on the street circuits. « .

During this presentation, we could feel the pressure of Mattia Binotto on his drivers as he told them on several occasions that he expected a lot from them this season. As for the equipment that will be provided to them, Binotto insisted that, “we worked hard on the engine last winter. We developed the hybrid part even more, and then the suspension also saw a lot of change.”

Scuderia Ferrari is the only team on the board to have participated in all seasons of Formula 1. It therefore goes without saying that it is certainly the most prestigious, but it remains to be seen whether their 75 years of experience and their fame have been assets to translate all this into convincing results on the track this season. Responnse ? At the first Grand Prix, in Bahrain on March 20th.
