This Wednesday, the U19 Canaries will play their first Youth League game at home. FC Pyunik is expected at 7 p.m. at the Stade Marcel Saupin.

As part of the 1st round of the Youth League Champions path, FC Nantes will face an Armenian club. This is FC Pyunik, winner of the U19 championship in Armenia.

It is therefore a big challenge awaiting the team of Pierre Aristouy, brand new to the competition. Indeed, if for a few years, the U19s have been fighting to obtain this so expensive place, it is to live an extraordinary experience: the Champions League.

If that’s not the right term, UEFA has organized the Youth League for a few years now. It’s the « Champions League » for the U19s.

The European team

For this competition, Pierre Aristouy has planned many players, 38 to be exact.

There will be four goalkeepers, including Lucas Bonelli who is one of the five in 2003 integrated into the Europe group. 12 defenders, 11 midfielders and 9 attackers will also be in the game. If the competition is tough, the U19 coach intends to rotate and offer a chance to the youngest.

Practical information

To attend the first leg, entry is free, at the Stade Marcel Saupin. The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. According to FC Nantes, the stadium will open its doors to supporters around 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

If the meeting cannot be broadcast due to UEFA regulations, FC Nantes should offer a video summary on its site in the coming days.

The return match will take place in Yerevan (Armenia) on October 5.

Who will be the match referees?

Robert Ian Jenkins will be in charge of the game. This Welsh referee is now used to refereeing U17 and U19 matches. But this is the first time in several years that he has refereed a French club.

The main referee will be accompanied by two other Welshmen, Jordan Lee Christopher and Connor Philip John Thomas. The 4th referee is French. This is Hakim Ben El Hadj.
