On May 19, the Federal Commission of Referees met to draw up the ranking of referees for the 2021-2022 Ligue 1 season. Mikael Lesage and Romain Lissorgue, dead last, were demoted. The podium was composed of Clément Turpin (1st), Benoît Bastien, and Stéphanie Frappart.

Mathieu Vernice, a first with the Canaries.

Mathieu Vernice, one of the two promoted to Ligue 1, has two seasons to his name in Ligue 2 (23 games / 105 yellow cards / 6 red cards / 9 penalties). Even if he will be central referee for the first time for FC Nantes, he is not unknown to the Canaries since he was in the VAR during Lyon – Nantes on May 14 (3-2).

Mathieu Vernice will be accompanied this Sunday, August 28, 2022 by Florian Goncalves de Araujo and Laurent Coniglio as assistants, and Ahmed Taleb will be the substitute referee. At the VAR, we will find William Lavis and Olivier Thual.

Morgan Lavergne.
