F1: Romain Grosjean’s test, with Mercedes, forgotten? Wolff says no.


It has now been almost a year and a half since Toto Wolff promised Romain Grosjean a test drive in the Mercedes F1. A “gift” that he had wished to make to the French driver, after his serious accident and the fire of the Haas from which he had, almost miraculously, escaped, during the Sakhir Grand-Prix, in Bahrain. Yes, but since then, the imperatives of the calendar, both on the Mercedes side and Grosjean (who is very busy in the USA, with the Indycar championship) as well as the change of date of the Grand-Prix de France last year – during which Romain was supposed to perform an exhibition with a silver arrow- had prevented the event from taking place.

However, Toto Wolff wants to reassure fans of Romain Grosjean, this test has been promised and will be organized! Remains to be defined when…”It is certain that the test will take place. We are committed. We look at what we can do and what he can do, but it will happen. I gave my word.” declared recently the strongman of the German team, in Formula 1. But it is clear that currently, with the performance problems encountered by his team in the premier category, this test of the pilot Andretti in Indycar, in the Germanic, is most certainly the least of his worries!
