F1 – Driving at Spa will be « a special moment » for Mick Schumacher | F1only.fr

30 years after his father Michael Schumacher’s debut on the Spa-Francorchamps track (it was in 1991 at the wheel of a Jordan 191), the young Mick Schumacher is also preparing to ride on the famous Ardennes toboggan at the driving a Formula 1 for the first time.

Schumacher Jr – who got to test his father’s Jordan 191 at the Silverstone track a few weeks ago – says he now wants to leave his own mark on the Spa-Francorchamps circuit, although the German is keenly aware that his current single-seater will not allow him to shine on this very selective circuit.

» Driving my father’s Benetton in 2017 [une démonstration sur le circuit de Spa] was a great experience. Now, five years later, I drive in Formula 1 myself and it is 30 years after my father made his debut. It’s a really special time for me and my family so I’m very happy to go and put my mark on this special track. «  Mick Schumacher explains to us.

» Overall, Spa is my favorite track under all circumstances. For me, coming back to Spa is just great. I was there last year and previous years [dans les catégories inférieures] and we’ve obviously had a lot of ups and downs there. «

» This is definitely one of the toughest trails – it’s super long, it’s got a lot of ripples, it’s very historic and certainly one of the most special weekends we have on the calendar. , so I can’t wait to go back. Also, we have tough times in mind but we always keep everyone, especially Anthoine (Hubert), in our hearts when we go. «
