Evann Guessand courted by the Ivorian selection
The young Aiglons striker Evann Guessand, not yet called up to the France Espoirs team, could choose the selection of Côte d’Ivoire. Steps have already been taken by the African country.
Author of a goal and an assist since the start of the season (15 appearances) with OGC Nice, Evann Guessand does not leave you indifferent. Fortunately, the Riviera club had the good idea to extend its young protege at the start of the year, and this until 2024. A good way to curb the ardor of those concerned.
Guessand in the footsteps of Haller?
On the other hand, if the Aiglons were able to have a head start to keep their 20-year-old player, this is – for the moment – not the case for the France U23 team. International U16 (four selections), U17 (two selections) and U18 (two selections), Guessand has still not been called by Sylvain Ripoll to come and strengthen the Blueberries. Enough to make the big 1.87m center-forward impatient, especially since another nation is taking a close interest in his case.
Côte d’Ivoire has already taken steps to convince him to take the plunge. An opportunity that is reminiscent of that seized by the top scorer in the Champions League (11 goals in seven games) with Ajax Amsterdam, Sébastien Haller, who played in the last African Cup of Nations with the selection led by Patrice Beaumelle.
As a reminder, the men of Didier Deschamps will challenge the Elephants on March 25 in a friendly at the Vélodrome stadium in Marseille.
