European football: Metz returns to victory against Pau

For his second match on the Blues bench, Graham Potter recorded his first success, at Crystal Palace (2-1), which allowed him to get back into the race for the Champions League. With thirteen points, Chelsea are provisionally fifth, while Palace vegetates in sixteenth place with six units.

Passed near the correctional in the first period, then the feat in the second, Liverpool must for its part be satisfied with a draw which demonstrates its great current difficulties. With ten points, the Reds occupy a very sad ninth place, unworthy of their status, while Brighton remain fourth with fourteen units.

Completely overwhelmed for twenty minutes, especially defensively, Jürgen Klopp’s players were trailing 2-0 after a double from Belgian Leandro Trossard (1-0, 4th and 2-0, 17th) for the Seagulls’ first game since the departure of Potter. The score was even flattering for the locals, but the new Brighton coach, Roberto De Zerbi, remained impassive on his bench.

And he was right because Liverpool regained a foothold in the match and equalized thanks to a brace from Roberto Firmino (2-1, 33rd and 2-2, 54th). An own goal from Adam Webster even put the Reds in the lead shortly after the hour mark, but it was finally a new goal from Trossard, seven minutes from time, which ended the match with a score more logic.
