Entering the scene of Montrealer Bennedict Mathurin

The metropolis will be well represented in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as Montrealers Chris Boucher, Khem Birch, Luguentz Dort and young sensation Bennedict Mathurin will be in action this season.

While Boucher, Birch and Dort already have a few campaigns behind the tie, Bennedict Mathurin will be entitled to his baptism of fire on Wednesday evening. The 20-year-old will play his first-ever preseason game in a Pacers uniform, as the Indiana roster visits the Hornets in Charlotte.

In three games in the NBA Summer League, Montreal’s Mathurin averaged 19.3 points, 4 rebounds and 1.3 steals, with a 38.5% success rate for three-pointers.

Remember that Bennedict Mathurin, of Montreal North, was selected 6th in the NBA draft last June. He thus became the earliest Quebecer drafted in NBA history.

Boucher and Birch in action with the Raptors

Teammates Chris Boucher and Khem Birch have already started their pre-season schedule with the Toronto Raptors. On Sunday, the two Montrealers participated in the Raptors’ 114-82 victory over the Utah Jazz.

Chris Boucher played about 14 minutes, amassing 11 points and 10 rebounds. He signed a three-year contract this summer with Toronto, worth $35.25 million.

Khem Birch meanwhile played for 11 minutes on Sunday collecting five points and five rebounds along the way.

Delayed start to the season for Luguentz Dort

Montreal North’s other representative, Luguentz Dort, will have to wait before hitting the field this season. The Quebecer suffered a concussion in training on Sunday. He will need to go through the process to make sure he is symptom-free before returning to play. The Thunder organization said there is still no set date for his return.

This summer, Luguentz Dort signed a five-year deal with the Oklahoma squad, earning him $87 million. Last season, he had the best campaign of his career averaging 17.2 points, 1.7 assists and 4.2 rebounds in 51 games. However, a shoulder injury cut short his season.
