Emirates News Agency – Brazilian channel BandSports to broadcast UAE President’s Cup final


ABU DHABI, 18th October, 2022 (WAM) — In an unprecedented move, the United Arab Emirates Football Association (UAEFA), in cooperation with the Emirates News Agency (WAM), has signed an agreement with Brazilian channel BandSports to broadcast the UAE President’s Cup final match between Al Wahda and Sharjah teams next Friday, October 21, at Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium in Al Ain.

BandSports, which is affiliated with Rede Bandeirantes, one of the largest media networks in the Latin American continent, will broadcast the match through an analysis studio and accompanying programs, thanks to which it will shed light on Emirati football in general, and on the final of the President Cup in particular.

Mohammed Abdallah Hazzam Al Dhaheri, Secretary General of UAEFA, praised the great role played by WAM and pointed out that the cooperation with this national media organization has a positive impact on sports, especially football, because WAM is characterized by its rich and diverse initiatives.

He added that WAM has extensive international relations and « appreciates its efforts and cooperation with the UAE Football Association in all football-related occasions and events, and that the cooperation between our two institutions will continue ».

Al Dhaheri said: « The final match of the President’s Cup will receive unprecedented media attention, as it will be broadcast live in the South American continent, in particular in Brazil, which is represented by eight players, who play for the Sharjah and Al Wahda teams. The live broadcast is the result of cooperation between the UAE Football Federation and the Emirates News Agency, which has entered into cooperation agreements with the media international. »

He also pointed out that the presence of four Brazilian players in the Sharjah and Al Wahda teams will attract the attention of football fans in Brazil, home to stars and footballing talents, while the event will help to convey many Emirati messages that advocate peace, compassion, coexistence and solidarity.

The Director General of WAM, affirmed that during the past period, the relations between the UAE and Brazil have witnessed a notable development and a tremendous momentum in all areas, which WAM has taken advantage of to establish partnerships and signing agreements with many media institutions in Brazil, for the benefit of both countries.

Al Rayssi added that, in accordance with these agreements, scheduled time slots are dedicated to the UAE on a weekly basis in Brazil, which would enhance the country’s stature abroad, highlighting its outstanding experiences and initiatives in all domains.

WAM Director General Mohammed Jalal Al Rayssi hailed the constructive cooperation with UAEFA, led by Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, which has led to the success of several initiatives. He noted that WAM puts all its abilities at the service of the distinctive programs and initiatives of UAEFA and all other sports federations in the country. It works with a fixed strategy to invest the successes of the sports sector in enriching the development and cultural experience of Emiratis and to showcase them in various user-friendly media platforms, he explained.

He indicated that clubs in the United Arab Emirates have recruited many distinguished Brazilian players to support their experience in developing local competitions, which ultimately reflects positively on their national team.

The last few days have been marked by the holding of coordination meetings that have brought together the team in charge of media work from the UAE Football Federation with officials from the Emirates News Agency and the Brazilian channel.

During these meetings, all technical aspects related to the broadcast of the match, as well as information relating to the final were discussed.
