The Catalan start-up specializing in virtual reality and incubated at the Soler media action center, announced this Tuesday, May 31 in Paris after being received at the Elysée the day before.
The day after his invitation to the Elysée Palace by Philippe Englebert, the « business, attractiveness and export » adviser to the President of the Republic, the start-up VRrOOm, specializing in the field of metaverse (immersive experiences in virtual reality) invited all the press, this Tuesday, May 31 at the Palais des mirages in Paris, in the presence of major investment funds, the Caisse des Dépôts and the Ministry of Culture.
The opportunity for the leaders to announce the creation of a first French and European platform in the metaverse and the field of entertainment (live performance, culture, sport, etc.) with a view to the launch of a prototype planned by the end of the year. To finance the development of an exponentially growing market – which should weigh 700 billion dollars by 2030 – but also to compete with the American and Chinese markets, VRrOOm is planning a series A fundraising of up to 30 million euros in the second half to fund recruitment, R&D investments and the acquisition of specialized skills to achieve this ambition.
Considered a world leader in the metaverse in the field of entertainment, the start-up VRrOOm created in 2018 by the Perpignanais Louis Cacciuttolo (former vice-president in San Francisco of the company THX created by George Lucas) had carried out last week a first fundraising of €1.5M from Bpifrance or the Occitanie Region (…) and provides for the creation of 60 jobs planned for the next 24 months.
The start-up has already collaborated with international artists such as Jean-Michel Jarre for the immersive concert « Welcome to the Other Side », followed by more than 75 million spectators around the world, but also the Grand Palais, France Télévisions, the Venice Biennale or the South by Southwest Festival. VRrOOm aims to create a reference ecosystem on the territory for everything related to metaverse, 3D and digital in the broad sense.
