DS9, the big absentee of July 14

DECRYPTION – For the National Day parade, the Élysée has decided to snub the latest flagship of the French high-end. A sedan whose refinement deserves to be honored.

It’s a bad signal. Erected as the flag bearer of our French automobile industry, the DS9 will be the big absent from the parade on July 14. The services of the Presidency of the Republic would have considered that it would be frowned upon for the current tenant of the Élysée to parade aboard a model made in China. This is to forget that the design and engineering of the vehicle carry the France brand and that the DS9 illustrates the know-how of our industry.

Obviously, it is less disturbing that the first electric vehicles, marketed by the two French manufacturers, are based on technology from Asia. If the new flagship of the French brands of the Stellantis group, resulting from the merger of PSA and Fiat-Chrysler, is produced in China, it is as much for industrial reasons as for logistics.
